Reach Out has offered substance abuse prevention services in the West Valley of
San Bernardino County since 1969.

Through stimulating classroom presentations and interactive lessons, consultants help students understand the importance of making healthy choices and assist them in developing the tools necessary to resist the pressures to use harmful substances. Studies have shown that students who learn the lessons of resistance are far less likely to use harmful substances when they become teenagers and adults.

Through the science-based curricula, researched and written by the Rand Corporation, students learn refusal skills in order to avoid the use of harmful drugs such as alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and inhalants. Our programs are offered to schools free of charge.

In addition to our classroom education, Reach Out sponsors college student interns who are pursuing a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential by assisting their placement in a local school, so that they may provide direct counseling services to students in need. We are working with several schools to provide these intervention services. Reach Out staff will advise and support these counseling interns throughout their internships.
